Starting a Blog in 2026!
September 19 2026
Hello, yes it is the year 2026, and yes I am just now starting a professional blog despite being a working artist for many years.
Why?
So many reasons…
But if I get into it all at once, this will quickly turn into a novel, so let’s start off on the most lighthearted reason: I like to write and just had a sudden desire to do it. I’ve decided to follow those feelings more closely these days and not invent reasons to stop myself from doing the things I’m drawn to do, so here I am!
On a more serious note, it seems more important than ever right now for the voice of artists to be ever-present; to connect the human with the work you see, deepen people’s understanding of what goes into it all and show why that matters. So I’m here now to talk about my work directly.
I would love to keep up weekly with sketchbook pages or works in progress, but knowing myself (and you’ll know already too if you follow me on Instagram), I just…don’t do that. So I’m immediately removing the pressure of a “blog schedule” and I’ll just post when I can and include work that I’m excited about, whether it’s my most recent or something from the past that I’m still into.
Let’s kick things off with this - back in June (I think??) I did live figure drawing for the first time in a loooong time at Gallery Nucleus’s The Drawing Club. Costumed figure drawing was never something I did very much but this one was XENA-THEMED!! so I felt compelled to give it a try. I felt pretty rusty but came up with a few pages I was happy with one way or another:
