About
I was hooked on animation from the time I saw the Disney feature animated films of the late 80’s/early 90’s as they came out. I remember being enamored with the pencil tests that would sometimes show up in trailers or making-of snippets starting around this time, and from then on I gave much of my free time as a kid to drawing. While in college I discovered more independent and stylistically experimental animation that has stuck with me (my all-time favorite being Hedgehog in the Fog) and informed my artistic goals much more clearly over the years.
For the past several years, I’ve renewed my sketchbook practice as my main tool for refocusing my artistic voice, and I’m exploring how to translate what I’m excited to draw into my animation and illustration work.
I also like creating 3D work, and so far have used needle felting as my main outlet.
Aside from my work you see here, I also love to dance and do rhythmic gymnastics, which I feel informs what I want from my art every bit as much as something like a sketchbook practice: incorporating a temporal quality to my work - that is, making the drawing process a prominent element of the final product - has been an idea guiding my drawing lately.
Originally from Virginia, I moved to Minnesota and got my BFA in animation at Minneapolis College of Art & Design, working primarily on commercials and short films there for a few years after graduating before moving to Los Angeles, where I have continued working as a freelance artist.

Typically I prefer to work with studios and publishers, and generally don’t accept offers to illustrate self-published books. But if you’re an individual with a project in motion with studio or publisher backing, feel free to reach out!
